REMEMBRANCE

Names of departed family and friends may be written in the Book of Remembrance at the back of the church. They will be prayed for at the altar every day and the 12:30pm Sunday Mass will be offered for them throughout the month. Pages from the book will be placed on the altar as soon as they are full. Please remember that individual Masses can also be requested and there is space available on the Mass intentions list. In the United Kingdom , today is also kept as Remembrance Sunday and there will be prayers for the fallen at all the Masses. The Sung Latin Mass will be celebrated as a Requiem on their behalf with a two-minute silence and the laying of a wreath at the altar. Poppies are available at the doors. A donation will be appreciated to the Royal British Legion. Thank you.

GROWING IN CONFIDENCE

November 12 th , 19 th , 26 th

11am – 1pm

This course is designed for women only and will be led by Margaret Philpot. Our childhood influences and education, periods of unemployment for various reasons, redundancy, or the breakdown of personal relationships, are among the things which may affect our confidence. Obviously these three 2-hour interactive sessions will not resolve such issues, but an increased awareness of our unwanted behaviour patterns may help to put us on a new, more fulfilling path.

“WHAT DID

VATICAN II SAY?”

This series of talks is presented by Fr Dominic Robinson SJ, 7pm-8.30pm on alternate Thursdays, till 26th November. Next one: Nov 12th . This is a unique opportunity to examine in some depth the decrees of the Council and to try to understand their meaning for the Church today. The original documents are not always easy to read so why not take advantage of these learning and reflection sessions with an expert? Come to any or all the talks.

THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST

Continues November 21st, 11am - 4pm

Presented by Brian Purfield. How did the Gospels come to be written?  Why is there not just one account of Jesus?  To what audiences were the Gospels addressed?  What are the unique perspectives of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John?  We shall look briefly at the writings of St Paul and the letters to the early Christian communities.

PRAYER IN THE CITY

Each Thursday from 12.30-1pm a member of the Mount Street Jesuit Centre team will lead a brief period of prayer in the Meeting Room at 114, Mount Street . On each occasion we will introduce a different experience of prayer. Take a break and put prayer at the centre of things once more.
