Lent begins in a about month’s time.  Be sure that you have in your diary ASH WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 22nd and please give serious thought to participating in the annual individually guided retreat.  Lent is am appropriate time to review our lives and to deepen our relationship with God. The Retreat in Daily Life is an opportunity to meet one-to-one with a trained prayer companion once a week here at 114 Mount Street, at a time of your choice: morning, afternoon or evening. Just talking to another person in this context can help you see more clearly the action of God in your life, and talking about your prayer, or lack of it, can enable you to discover new ways of praying. The retreat will run from SATURDAY 25th FEBRUARY, 6:45pm through to SATURDAY 31st MARCH, 6:45pm. Pick up more information/booking form as you leave church today. ONE-DAY WORKSHOPS

THE GIFT OF LISTENING

Facilitated by MARGARET PHILPOT

Saturday 4th February, 11am-4pm

Most of us consider ourselves to be good listeners, but the evidence indicates that this is not always so. We discover that it is difficult to listen for long, whether it be to information or the needs or stories of others. So many things get in the way: our own priorities, needs, anxieties etc. This interactive day is concerned with improving our skills when listening to ourselves, and to others, and perhaps also to God.

ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

Wednesday 8th February, 10am-2pm

It seems that busy-ness, more than anything else, is the ‘dis-ease’ that separates us not only from ourselves, but also from each other. A.T. can enable people to achieve a greater sense of relaxation and wellbeing, it can facilitate the art of meditation and living more gently and mindfully within ourselves and in the world.

LIVING WITH HOPE

Facilitated by BRENDAN CALLAGHAN SJ

Saturday 18th February, 11am-4pm

Hope plays a more central part in our lives than we tend to recognise. This workshop aims to help us explore our hopes in such a way as to enable the power of hope to have a greater effect in our living in response to the good news of the Gospel.  It is an opportunity to look at different understandings of the place of hope in our lives – and how it differs from and is more central than clarity or knowledge or certainty.

THE LITTLE BIG SILENCE

As a shameless spin off to the BBC series on people discovering the richness of silence we are offering weekends of retreat at the House of Prayer in East Molesey. If you would like to come along and find out what happens in your heart and soul when all the outside noise stops, come along. There is the opportunity for one to one sessions with a spiritual director, as well as short periods of silent prayer together.  The next weekend is in from FRIDAY 17th 7pm until SUNDAY 19th FEBRUARY after lunch.  Contact Lynne for more details.

ONGOING

Young Adults are invited to a special Mass every first and third Sunday of the month at 7.15pm in the church (refreshments following). Christian Life Communities meet regularly at 114 Mount Street and offer a wonderful experience of prayer and the sharing of faith. Pray-As-You-Go is the very popular MP3 means of entering a 10-minute space of prayer and reflection.
