AN
EVENING WITH PUGIN
After a
considerable absence, Mr. Paul Atterbury, Victorian art
expert and well-known per-sonality from the BBC's Antiques
Roadshow , returns to Farm Street to present an evening
devoted to A.W.N. Pugin, his life and work. This event
will take place in the church where we regularly enjoy
the Pugin altar of 1849 in all its magnificence. There
will be other items to examine as well as a visual presentation
illustrating the talk. Note: Takes place this
Wednesday, July 8 th at 7pm . Tickets (£10)
are available from farmstreetpuginnight@yahoo.co.
uk or at the doors on the night or from Reception
during the week. You can also get them at the doors today
after Mass.
BAROQUE
CONCERT
The
Maîtrise St Christophe de Paris will be performing
choral music from the Italian Baroque on Saturday July
11 th at 7pm
in the church. This is a mixed choir accompanied by period
instruments and will be playing works by Gabrieli, Monteverdi,
Allegri, Frescobaldi and Lotti – a splendid line-up of
composers for a church with a splendid acoustic! Entry
is free. Complimentary tickets are available now at the
doors of the church.
SPIRITUAL
EXERCISES
Throughout
the month of July weekday evenings will feature an Ignatian
Retreat led by Fr John Edwards SJ. This will involve remaining
after the 6pm
Mass for a 40-minute session on the Exercises with Exposition
of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. The retreat
part includes devoting time to pray at home (half-an-hour
or an hour if possible) using the themes and suggested
texts from the sessions. The retreat is based on the rhythm
of the Spiritual Exercises and will follow this pattern:
2 nd – 3 rd : “Foundation and Purification”, 9 th -10
th “Following” 13 th -17 th Fol-lowing and Learning”,
20 th -24 th “ Union ”
(in sorrow), 27 th -30 th “ Union
” (in joy, in action). The month
ends with the celebration of the Feast of St Ignatius,
July 31st .

SADHANA:
CONTEMPLATION & MEDITATION
Mondays
until July 13th , 7 to 8:15pm
Presented
by Lynne Galloway. An opportunity to learn about and explore
Sadhana meditation, a form of Ignatian contemplation developed
by Anthony de Mello. The courses comprise a series of
exercises from his book Sadhana – a Way to God .
Beginning with developing stillness and awareness, we
then move onto the use of our imagination and into opening
our lives more fully to the love of God.

Young
Adults are invited to
a special Mass every first and third Sunday of the month
at 7.15pm
in the church (refreshments following). Christian
Life Communities meet regularly at 114
Mount Street and offer a wonderful
experience of prayer and the sharing of faith. Pray-As-You-Go
is the very popular MP3 means of entering a
10-minute space of prayer and reflection.
