Pilgrim of Hope: A life of Mary, Mother of Jesus, in Pictures

For the month of May, traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, we will be hosting an exhibition organised by Quarr Abbey with the National Gallery. ‘Pilgrim of Hope’ tells the story of Mary’s life and vocation, through reproductions of paintings held by the National Gallery, London.

Dates: 1st May to 30th May 2026

Mon–Fri: 8am – 8pm; Sat–Sun: 9am – 3pm

Private View: Friday 1st May at 7pm. To book a place, e-mail friendsofquarr@quarr.org. Private view will include readings by Edmund Matyjeszek, reading poems from his forthcoming collection, ‘A Book of Feasts: The Marian Year’, which covers twenty-one feasts of the Virgin Mary.

In addition, every Tuesday in May - the 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th – there will be a residency at the exhibition 2.30pm-3.30pm to explain the pictures and read related poems.
