As a fitting tribute to the late Pope, this month we will show ‘Francesco – Inspiring Hope’, the 2020 headline-making documentary about Pope Francis from Hollywood based, Russian director and producer, Evgeny Afineevsky.

The making of this ground-breaking film granted the director unprecedented access to His Holiness, providing an intimate look at a global leader who approaches challenging and complex issues including climate change, migration and refugees, women’s empowerment, sexual abuse, the global pandemic, border walls and others with tremendous humility, wisdom and generosity towards all.

The director, who achieved Oscar and Emmy nominations for his 2016 documentary ‘Winter on Fire – Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom’, hosted a Q&A in person after the film was last shown at our club during Covid in March 2022.
